Blogger (Blogspot) has been around for over 20 years and still hosts millions of active blogs. Many of these blogs include embedded videos — some uploaded directly to Blogger, others embedded from YouTube, Vimeo, or other platforms. Blogger has no native download option for videos in posts.

Two types of Blogger videos

Native Blogger uploads — uploaded directly to a Blogger post. These use Google's video infrastructure. SaveFast handles them via the post URL.
Embedded videos — the post embeds a YouTube, Vimeo, or other player. For these, the SaveFast workflow varies:

  • Try pasting the Blogger post URL first.
  • If that doesn't work, find the embedded video's direct URL (right-click the video → "Show URL" or look at the embed code).
  • Use the appropriate platform guide (e.g., YouTube).

  1. Open the Blogger post. URLs look like username.blogspot.com/2024/01/post-title.html or custom domains.
  2. Copy the URL.

Quality available

For native Blogger uploads, quality depends on what the blogger uploaded — typically 360p-720p, sometimes 1080p. Blogger doesn't offer the same multi-tier system as YouTube.
For embedded YouTube/Vimeo content, you get the full quality range of those platforms.

Common issues

"Video element not found." The post may not have a video, or the video is embedded from an unsupported source. Look at the embedded player and try its direct URL.
Blog is private. Some Blogger blogs are invite-only or password-protected. You need access to view to download.
Old video won't play. Very old Blogger posts (pre-2010) sometimes have video format issues. The video might still play in the browser but not download cleanly.
