Facebook has more video content than most people realize — billions of hours sitting across Pages, Groups, profiles, and Facebook Watch. Yet the platform makes downloading any of it deliberately difficult. There's no "download" button on the web. The mobile app has a save feature, but it only saves into Facebook itself, not as a real file.
This guide shows how to grab any public Facebook video as a real MP4 file you can keep, edit, or watch offline.

The fast version

What kinds of Facebook videos can you download?

Facebook has several video types, all with the same paste-and-download flow:

  • Page posts — videos posted by business pages, news outlets, creators. Almost always public.
  • Profile posts — videos posted by regular users. Public ones download; private ones don't.
  • Facebook Watch episodes — long-form content, downloads when public.

  • Live stream recordings — once a stream ends, the recording behaves like a normal video.
  • Group posts — only downloadable if the group is public; private group content is restricted.

When in doubt, if you can view the video without logging in (open it in an incognito browser), it's public and downloadable.

Getting the right URL

Facebook's URLs are messy. Three common formats:

  • facebook.com/PageName/videos/123456789/
  • facebook.com/watch/?v=123456789
  • fb.watch/abcdef/ (short links shared on mobile)

All three work with SaveFast. The simplest way to get a clean URL:
On desktop: click the timestamp under the video ("2h ago" or similar). It opens the video in a dedicated page. Copy the URL from the address bar.
On mobile: tap the three dots ⋯ above the video → Copy link. Facebook's mobile app gives you a clean shareable URL this way.

Downloading on Windows or Mac

  1. Open the Facebook video. Click the three dots ⋯ in the top-right of the post → Copy link.
  2. Go to savefast.cc, paste, click Download.
  3. Pick MP4 quality (HD recommended when available).
  4. The file lands in Downloads.

Facebook usually offers two MP4 tiers: HD (720p or 1080p depending on what was uploaded) and SD (360p). Pick HD unless storage is critical.

Downloading on iPhone

  1. In the Facebook app, find the video. Tap the three dots ⋯ above it → Copy link.
  2. Open Safari → savefast.cc.
  3. Paste, tap Download, pick quality.
  4. Tap the Safari download icon → Save to Files → On My iPhone.
  5. Move into Photos: open Files, tap the video, Share → Save Video.

Downloading on Android

  1. Tap the three dots above the video → Copy link.
  2. Open Chrome → savefast.cc.
  3. Paste, Download, pick quality.
  4. File goes to Downloads folder; visible in Gallery if moved to DCIM/Camera.

Quality available from Facebook

Facebook stores videos in two main tiers:

  • HD — 720p or 1080p, depending on what the uploader provided. Roughly 4-8 Mbps bitrate.
  • SD — 360p or 480p, lower bitrate, smaller file. Mainly for slow connections.

Facebook's HD tier is reasonable quality but not exceptional — comparable to YouTube 720p compressed about 30% harder. For most viewing this is fine; for editing or large-screen playback you may notice softness.
If the original creator uploaded only SD, Facebook won't generate an HD version. You can't get higher quality than what was uploaded.

Audio extraction

For podcast clips, interviews, or audio-driven content (recipes, talks, music), grab the MP3 instead. On the SaveFast results page, scroll to the MP3 option. The audio extracts directly from the source file.

Live streams and recordings

Facebook Live streams can be downloaded after they end, not during. When the creator stops streaming, Facebook converts the live broadcast into a regular video post. You can then copy its link and download as MP4 like any other video.
If the creator deletes the recording immediately, it's gone — no archive available.

Private Facebook content

Videos from private pages, private profiles, or members-only groups are restricted. SaveFast can only access what your browser can access. If you can view the video logged into your account, you can sometimes download it by:

  1. Opening the video in a browser where you're logged into Facebook.
  2. Right-clicking the video → Show video URL (this gives you the direct stream URL, not the page URL).
  3. Pasting that direct URL into SaveFast.

This is unreliable and depends on Facebook's current frontend behavior. For private content, the most reliable path is asking the original poster for a copy.

Common issues

"Video not found" error. The video was deleted, the page was unpublished, or it's private. No workaround.
Only SD quality available. The uploader didn't provide HD. Pick whatever's offered.
Audio is in the wrong language. Some Facebook videos have multiple audio tracks. SaveFast usually picks the default; if you need a specific language, try downloading with different quality options — sometimes alternate language tracks are in higher-quality versions only.
Captions missing. Facebook overlays captions in the player; they're not part of the video file. The download is the clean version without overlays.

Privacy and reuse

Downloading public Facebook videos is invisible to the original poster. No notification, no view-count signal, nothing tracked.
For reuse: news clips, public statements from public pages, and similar content is often quoted freely in commentary and reporting. Personal videos and content from private accounts are different — even "public" personal content deserves a credit if you redistribute it.
For your own Facebook videos, you have every right to download them. Many people use SaveFast to back up their own video memories from Facebook before deleting accounts or moving platforms.
