X (formerly Twitter) is where a lot of newsworthy video first appears — breaking events, behind-the-scenes clips, viral moments, sports highlights, comedy bits. The platform doesn't offer any way to save those videos as files. The bookmark feature just stores a link inside your account; if the original tweet gets deleted, your bookmark dies with it.
This guide covers how to save any public video from X as a real MP4 file in about 30 seconds.

The fast version

  1. On the tweet, tap the share icon → Copy link to post.
  2. Open SaveFast.cc.
  3. Paste the link, hit Download.
  4. Pick MP4 quality (usually 720p or 1080p available) or MP3 audio.

What you actually get

When you download a video from X, you get the same MP4 file the platform streams to viewers. X usually offers two or three quality tiers depending on the source:

  • 1080p HD — when the original was uploaded in HD (most videos from creators or news organizations).
  • 720p — common middle tier.
  • 360p / 480p — older or mobile-only uploads.

X compresses videos noticeably, more than YouTube but less than TikTok. For a 1-minute video at 1080p, the file is usually 5-15 MB.

Downloading on iPhone

  1. In the X app, tap the tweet to open it.
  2. Tap the share icon below the video → Copy link to post.
  3. Open Safari → savefast.cc.
  4. Paste, tap Download, pick the highest quality.
  5. Safari shows the download icon at the top — tap it, then Save to Files → On My iPhone.
  6. To save into Photos: open Files, find the video, tap Share → Save Video.

Downloading on Android

  1. Tap the share icon on the tweet → Copy link to post (or Share via → Copy).
  2. Open Chrome, go to savefast.cc.
  3. Paste, hit Download.
  4. The file lands in Downloads.

Downloading on Desktop

The fastest path on Mac or Windows:

  1. Open the tweet in your browser. The URL looks like x.com/username/status/123456789 or twitter.com/username/status/123456789. Both work.
  2. Copy the URL from the address bar.
  3. Go to savefast.cc, paste, download.
  4. Pick MP4 quality.

Desktop sometimes shows more quality options than mobile, because X's web player has access to more tiers.

Audio only (MP3)

For interviews, podcast clips, or speeches posted to X, the audio is often what matters. On the SaveFast results page, choose MP3 instead of MP4. Audio extracts cleanly from the source.

GIFs from X — special case

What X calls "GIFs" are actually short MP4 video loops with no audio (real animated GIF format would be too large for the platform). When you copy a tweet with a "GIF" and paste into SaveFast, you'll get an MP4 file that loops.

Threads with multiple videos

A thread of tweets, each with its own video, requires downloading each one separately. Copy each tweet's link individually and paste into SaveFast.
If the thread has a few related videos and you're editing them together, downloading on desktop with multiple browser tabs is the fastest workflow — paste in SaveFast, download, switch tab, repeat.

Protected accounts and private tweets

X has "protected" accounts whose tweets are only visible to approved followers. Videos in protected tweets are accessible only with your logged-in browser. SaveFast doesn't bypass this — if you can't view the video in your own browser, you can't download it.
For public tweets, no login required.

What about X Spaces?

Live Spaces (currently happening) can't be downloaded; you have to wait for the recording.

Common issues

"Tweet not available" error. The tweet was deleted, the account was suspended, or the post was made private. No recovery.
Only low quality available. The uploader didn't post HD. X doesn't generate higher-quality versions from low-quality sources.
Video has "sensitive content" warning. SaveFast can usually still download these. You may need to dismiss the warning in X first to get the video to load.
Caption text missing. X's captions are overlay text in the player, not part of the video file. Your download is the clean video.
Audio is muted on the file. If X stripped audio for copyright reasons (rare on X, more common on TikTok and Instagram), the file you get has no sound because the source has none.

Privacy notes

Downloading is invisible to the original poster. There's no notification or signal. The tweet's view count is unaffected.
For news, public figures, and public commentary, downloading and quoting is normal practice (journalists do this constantly). For personal accounts, basic respect still applies — don't redistribute personal content without permission.

Is downloading X videos legal?
Generally yes for personal use. For redistribution, follow normal copyright and fair-use principles.
Will X notify the poster I downloaded their video?
No. Downloads bypass X's analytics.
Can I download videos from protected accounts?
Only if you have access to view them (you're an approved follower).
Does this still work since the platform was renamed to X?
Yes. Both twitter.com and x.com URLs work. SaveFast handles both.
Can I download a Tweet's quoted retweet video?
Yes — if you can see and play the video, you can copy that specific tweet's link and download it. Sometimes you'll need to click into the quoted tweet to get the right URL.
What about pinned tweets vs regular tweets?
No difference. Any tweet with a video can be downloaded.
Can I download X videos in 4K?
X caps user-uploaded video resolution at 1080p (and most uploads are 720p or lower). There's no 4K option.
